Week Number 27
Dear Little One,
Well, sweet girl, we have officially entered our third trimester with you; we only have three months to go! Time is flying, and while we are thrilled for you to arrive, we are also trying to soak up every moment of this pregnancy while we can. It dawned on me the other day that our entire second trimester with you was spent house-hunting and house-buying. As of this last week, we are officially in our first-ever home that we own, we are out of the rent house, and I am getting ready to decorate your nursery. I am so excited! It seems like life is slowing down a bit before you arrive, and I am very grateful for that. We still have a lot to do to get ready for you, so I need some down time!
Moving into our new house was an interesting process. It was hard for me because I wanted to get everything done as quickly as possible, and I don’t have that type of energy right now. Your handsome Daddy ended up breaking his toe during our move into the new house. He’s walking around in a boot right now while we finish unpacking boxes. Poor guy…
We got to celebrate your Daddy’s first Father’s Day last Sunday. I got him a book called “Show Dad How.” It’s hilarious and has pictures to illustrate everything in the book. He actually enjoyed flipping through it, which was great. The more important gift was from you, though! You picked out the perfect pen for him. He absolutely loves it and is in awe of your taste in writing utensils. :-) He mostly loves that it was from you!
You and your Daddy already have a sweet relationship. He has enjoyed finding you in my stomach over the last week or so. You are getting big enough that you are pretty easy to find; you are already fifteen inches long and over two pounds! When Daddy found you today, he tried giving you a mini-massage by rubbing my stomach. It was incredibly sweet, and you didn’t automatically move, so we’ll go with the idea that you liked it. :-) One thing that I love is that whenever your Daddy prays out loud for you, you always start kicking. It’s wonderful! He and I also sit together just to watch and feel you move around. It’s amazing.
We got to celebrate you at your first baby shower today. My sweet friends from church threw a party in your honor, and we got everything from spoons to cute little dresses to prepare for your arrival. They baked all sorts of food for the brunch, and we had a great time hanging out together. I am really excited about the handmade bows that I received from our friend Tiffany. She has a little girl, and she wanted to give you bows to wear when you arrive! (assuming you leave them on) Luckily, they can be put on headbands so that if you spend a year bald like I did, we can still put little bows on you!
You are stretching farther into my ribs. You lodged yourself up near my rib cage at our doctor appointment on Wednesday and seemed quite happy to stay there. I actually had to stand up and push you down to move you out of the way. We’ll see what happens when you start using my ribs as punching bags! I’m glad to know you are healthy and getting stronger by the day, though, even if that means my body is going to take a beating. :-) Another event from the doctor appointment? You decided to kick her twice while she was trying to measure your heartbeat. It startled her both times and was pretty funny!
You are already so cherished and loved. You have people all around you praying for you constantly, and everyone is so excited to meet you; not just your Mommy and Daddy! Grandma June specifically told me to tell you that she loves you so much. You are coming into this world surrounded by people who adore you.
We love you!
Mommy
Very sweet! I know you will appreciate these letters down the road, as will she (though that may be even further down the road) – remembering what the process was like and everything that was going on. I like this entry. Love you!
Thanks, Mom! I’m loving writing them to her, and I’m thrilled that I have documentation of everything that is going on. It’s something that I would have enjoyed reading! I love you so much!
I really love reading your letters to the small one. She is already a bundle of energy!
It has dawned on me that Misty will be signing G or Grammie, ?? How nice. GTom would enjoy knowing we are on a different level on the family chain. Tell the little one I love her and look forward to seeing her. Love GJune
I’m so glad you like them, Grandma! I enjoy writing them. Yes, she is most certainly a bundle of energy. I’m interested to see how she is when she arrives. You’re right about Mom! She already signs “Grammie” to the seven other grandkids, so we’ll see if she changes her title here on the website instead of going by “Mom.” I’m good with Mom, though!
Just dawned on me: do you want a special great-grandma name? Granny B changed hers! You might think about it.
I will happily let our sweet girl know. I love you!
